Sunday we went to church and then later that afternoon headed over to the Big Dam Bridge for the Buddy Walk, which was a fundraiser to help raise money and awareness for Down Syndrome children. This was such a wonderful event to get to be a part of. Savannah and several of the other cheerleaders, cheered the children and families on as they walked across the bridge and back, which is a mile! Later, they came back to the pavilion for hotdogs and games! There was such a sweet spirit amongst the crowd that afternoon. I loved getting to meet new people and love on some of those precious children.
Monday, my mom came down to spend a couple of days with us. When my mom comes down my kids love for her to cook her famous biscuits and gravy! Even my married kiddos were here each morning before work to eat breakfast..:)! We had lots planned for those two days...shopping, sewing, eating out and going to the police station for finger printing. (My mom at 78 years old took a concealed handgun class and her finger prints are worn off her fingers, so she hasn't been able to get her license...kind of a long story, but that is the short version.) I wanted to take my mom to Charlotte's in Keo, Arkansas. It is a wonderful little restaurant that is known for its wonderful pies and cakes. So we (my mom, Savannah, Natalie and me) headed out Tuesday for lunch and it was soooooo delicious not to mention spending time together was a plus also. Definitely want to go back sometime soon! Plus there is a cute little shop next door that has darling clothes and accessories! Laura, my nephew's wife also spent the week with us. She was here for insurance school, so we got to see her each night. I enjoyed getting to visit with her. Not often do I get to spend time in conversation with her.
Thursday we had a baby shower for Hannah George! I decided to use the theme "A girl can never have too many shoes!" I used baby shoes as the centerpiece. It was so cute. And the cake was to die for not only in cuteness but it tasted yummy! Joan Barnes is the "cake boss"! Love her and her work. So many friends and family came to celebrate Ms Trulie! Can't wait to see her in September!
Today was some house cleaning and Target shopping! I got a little behind this week...oh well....it was worth it!
Tonight..I have teenagers on my back porch! There is about 6 or 7 lounging around after some swimming! Thought I was going to bed early...but no...that was just a fleeting thought!:)
Tomorrow...more catching up around here and Mason and Kati Beth's wedding tomorrow night!
I am grateful....
