Have I told you that I love January? Pretty sure I have. But this morning I am reminded again as I sit by the fireplace (which I do not get to do very often). I also love Saturday mornings (that do not require me to be somewhere right away)! If you combine the two, a not so scheduled January + a not so scheduled Saturday morning you get a winning pair! Especially if you throw in a comfy chair, some homemade Amish bread and some good reading..it is almost a perfect morning! Plus a very quiet house (which does not happen often). It gives me a moment to think, reflect and plan!
This week was a great week. I spent several days shopping for my clients and making plans for all their new projects. A new master bath renovation and a teenage girl's bedroom were in the front running of my design projects this week. Both are going well and looking good! Hope to show some pics after the projects are finished.
Also, this week I started a Beth Moore Bible Study...James Mercy Triumphs! The first session was (as always) wonderful. I am constantly amazed at how much Beth Moore can pull out of one verse. I love her style of teaching and I am so thankful for her willingness to share and teach all of us! The group of ladies that I do my Bible Study with are such dear friends. I look forward each week to seeing what God has been doing in their lives. We have all known and prayed for each other for several years and God has knit our hearts together into such special friendships. They are my spiritual family. So thankful for their presence in my life. The study lasts for 9-10 weeks...so I am just now diving in! Can't Wait!
Savannah had friends over last night! They had a "stoning party"! In case you are wondering "what the heck is that???"...they were stoning dance costumes for their upcoming competitions. They are all so creative...I truly am amazed at their abilities all the time. Such a fun group of girls!
Weeks do fly by...I want to make them count!! Help me Lord to remember the important things...not just the urgent!

Monday, Monday....
As you saw in my last post...Fridays I love....Mondays....well...not so much! Maybe I shouldn't say that, after all there are some things I love about Mondays. (I think it's that being able to start over..I do love that feeling.) But for the most part Mondays are catching up after busy weekends and realizing it is quite a stretch until Friday! This Monday morning finds me still in my pjs at 11:00, but don't judge, I have had a productive morning cleaning, walking and planning my week! After all it is a holiday...MLK and no school today.
Weekend Recap!
Friday night Paul made his delicious homemade soup, which Savannah had been requesting all week. So our older children joined us for dinner too. Always fun to have them around!
Saturday, I had a dance meeting at MKDS with Savannah and then lunch with her and her friends at Panera Bread! The afternoon was spent decluttering while Savannah was at dance. Saturday night, Savannah went to a watch party for Miss America and then I ended up chauffeuring the young group around which meant I got to bed at a late hour!:)
This weekend we (Natalie and I) went to the Bridal Fair with Jessica and her mom, Shara and friends Tori and Gandy! We had lunch at The Hop Diner after church and then spent the afternoon looking at beautiful wedding florals, cakes, photography and venues. We also got to see several friends while we were there. Natalie's bridal photos were being shown in The Wedding Post of Arkansas booth...and her wedding album was in Christopher Nolan Photography booth as an example of his work....so fun to relive the wedding again! Such fun times and we get to do it all again in April with Jessica and Matt! These are exciting days. Memories are being made!
Last night Ben and Natalie went to dinner with us and then came over to play games. A fun night! Love spending time with my children!

Weekly Wrap Up
Don't you just love Fridays??? I do!! I love wrapping up a week of hard work and then having a couple of days that aren't so "scheduled". Really puts this girl in a good mood!
I think on Fridays I will attempt to recap my week! So...this is a glimpse of what my second week of January consisted of!
1) Worked on several design projects and met with several of my wonderful clients! I really do work for some of the most wonderful people who trust me to make their homes a representation of their lives. It can be stressful...but oh so rewarding!
2) Continued on my "cleaning out missions"! I am normally a very organized girl...but with my daughter's wedding and lots of Christmas Decorating...I got a little behind through the last few months!:) I have really been working on getting back in order!
3) I am doing some redecorating in my own home. We moved Savannah upstairs to Natalie's room and that has been quite the job! But it is looking so good and we are making progress! Lots of painting and cleaning out! I will post some pictures of my progress once I get it all completed!
4) I am reading through the Bible this year. I love God's word. Each time I read a passage, I see something different that I have not seen before.
5) I have been doing some cooking this week. I don't always do this because cooking just happens to be one of my husbands favorite things to do. I know...lucky me!! He truly is such a wonderful cook...and I just happen to be a wonderful eater!:) So...this works out really well for the both of us! But, I really do enjoy getting in the kitchen myself on occasion! And this week was a perfect opportunity to do that!
6) Having a daughter still in high school keeps me running lots of places! Ballgames, school, dance, friend's houses....just to name a few. Keeps me young! (hopefully)

It's A New Year.....Welcome 2012
I love new beginnings! When the calendar turns to January...I am excited! I get to wipe the slate clean and start over. I have so many things I want to do each year...I never get them all done, but I never tire of trying.
There isn't as much going on in the first month of a new year...and for a girl who stays pretty busy..I crave the quietness of January. It is a wonderful time of reflecting for me! I immediately start thinking of my New Year Resolutions...ways to grow in every area of my life. I start deep cleaning...not only in my house but my heart too! I go into areas of my life that might not get much attention during the busy months...but during the cold, deary days of January....I reflect and resolve to do better!
Which brings me to this blog! I want to keep a journal of my crazy, wonderful life here on Calico Creek. So yes...2012 is the year I attempt to record the craziness that goes on in my everyday life as I try to balance being a wife, mother, daughter, friend, and decorator!! Wish me luck..or better yet...pray for me this year!
So one of my new year resolutions, I just did...started a blog! If only I can keep it up!
